Joining
Anyone may compete, regardless of LotP membership status. Post your time zone. A list on the contest thread will be updated later to let you know exactly what time (in your time zone) the contest ends. All contestants have the same deadline, but this step is taken to help make sure contestants know what time the contest ends.
Submissions
Part 1 has one creation, Part 2 has two creations, and Part 3 has two creations as well. You should have five creations total when you post your entries.
The entries should be submitted before the said deadline. If you are in the western hemisphere, note that the deadline will actually be early or late Monday evening.
Judging
Scoring will be done using a rubric:
Each creation will be judged on a scale of 1 to 3 in the following categories: originality, anatomical accuracy, believable colors, anti-Play-Doh-ness (a.k.a. it doesn't look like a plastic toy that overflowed in its mold), and overall quality. From these four scores, a rating from 1 to 10 will be assigned to each creation.
Pre-made templates are allowed, but points will be deducted. If a creation is completely or nearly completely pirated, it will receive an overall score of 1 out of 10.
Awards
Only one creation is required to win an award, and it is entirely possible to win the Triathlon Award as well having only made one creation. However, making all five of the creations will greatly increase your chance of winning.
Six trophies will be awarded-- one for the best of each of the five creations, and one for the person who finishes with the highest score.
The last recipient of any particular award is ineligible for the same award in during this round (e.g., if you were the last person to receive the Dino-Mite Award, you are ineligible for the Dino-Mite Award until someone else wins it). However, everyone will always be eligible for the Triathlon Award, regardless of other award eligibility.
Other
Species to be created are selected at random using pseudo-random numbers generated by www.psychicscience.org, who requests anyone using their random numbers display this information, even though I detest psychic stuff.
