Okay, I think most of us have seen Up now (the 2009 Disney-Pixar one). I just watched it last night. Did anyone think Kelenken when they saw Kevin?
Saw an Elasmotherium skeleton...didn't catch what any of the others were.

I didn't think any particular species, just a large flightless bird. Though it was a good movie (my wife loves it) I was a bit disappointed that they went to this plateau that looked virtually identical to the one in "The Lost World" (1925) and it didn't even have prehistoric life on it. They show skeletons of the creatures at the beginning as if to prepare us but only follow through with a pretty ordinary looking bird. Good movie like I said, just a bit bummed out there were no creatures on the plateau when it really seemed like there would be.

Check it out. 1925's The Lost World. No waterfall but very similar.

The sceneries used in both Lost World and Up were actually inspired by real scenery in Venezuela. Wind erosion has carved massive plateaus, many of which are several times taller than they are wide. Planet Earth did an excellent job capturing the beauty of the land, as well as Angel Falls. It's rather amazing how so much of the water evaporates before it lands, giving a misty effect.

Yeah, I'm aware of the real plateaus down there but the similarity between the one in the movies led be to believe it was a tribute of sorts. The concept art for Paradise Falls looks even more like the one from The Lost World.
