Okay, been awhile since we had a debate...since classes are just starting, I figured it'd probably not be wise to start a very big serious heavy research debate, so how about something fun and easy? I found this picture: Bad Day on the High SeaThe caption is somewhat odd...I want to know what you think the painting REALLY conveys.

The best I can think of is that the three animals pictured are all among the largest predators on the planet. The tyrannosaurus obviously one of the largest terrestrial predators. The sperm whale is the largest living predator and the giant squid the largest invertebrate. A bit of a stretch but that was my first thought.

You gotta be kidding me!
It says right there underneath the title!

Well, I somehow don't see the promiscuity of the sperm whale, despite its name. It doesn't appear to be particularly sexually aggressive in this painting...now I could see the squid as possibly being sex-happy here, but honestly I think the caption is just completely random.
What I thought when I saw that painting was "the whale is getting pwn'd by the squid, the piggybacking Tyrannosaurus, and the weather, all at the same time!"

Well, my first thought was WTF was a Tyrannosaurus Rex doing on the back of a sperm whale in the middle of the ocean? The caption doesn't exactly help much either.

It does when the sperm whale is getting pwn'd by the Tyrannosaurus and the weather, though...

Then again, the whale is probably more resistant to lightning than is the squid...

Meaning in things like this doesn't matter. This is just a battle royale!

Maybe it's a reference to Tyrannosaurus sex.

Indeed. But judging by the caption the artist gave it...
